Before traveling to Madeira Island

If this is your first time in Madeira, then there are some key things what you need to know before you arrive. Firstly, before any trip, it’s very important to get to know where you will be- infrastructure and services. Secondly, travel insurance and other important documents. Airport is relatively small and positioned well, because it’s only 22 kilometers from Funchal and it takes 25 minutes drive to city center- it’s easy! You will also need some details and cash (Eur) to get a taxi to Funchal from Cristiano Ronaldo Airport.

Flight to Madeira Island

The flight to Madeira was very calm. Although it seems a bit challenging to fly across the ocean, but everything was fine- it was a perfect time for a nap! For many peoples, landing at an airport which is located on the small island may seem like something complicated, but it isn’t like that. As my mother said, pilots who fly to this island are specially trained to land in this type of place and there haven’t been any accidents so far. Because I knew it , I felt good and confident that everything will be fine- and it was! This is not my first flight to the island, so I can say that this was one of the most peaceful lights in my experience.

Arriving in Madeira Island

I made it! After yesterday’s trouble with the Uber, I arrived safe and sound in Madeira. This place had been on my „must to-do” list for several years, so I finally did it and I will spend two amazing months in here!

I arrived at Cristiano Ronaldo Airport at 10 am. It was an four hours flight from London to Funchal. I flew with Jet2 and I can recommend it if you are searching some flights for good price and service. Cristiano Ronaldo Airport is smaller than other international airports. Airport is the only one in this island with a large number of visitors every year. When I arrived I went thought security and everything was just fine, I waited in a line for passport stamp and then went to the exit. I didn’t have check luggage, because Jet2 allows two bags – one small bag and 10kg hand luggage (perfect for backpack travelers!). This is very good thing about small airports, everything is going very smoothly and without problems.
